“Writing and Performing Satire”
Many spoken word poems are written as polemics: a strong critical attack on a topic. Mix up your tone and write a satire. We will write a poem in character of something you can’t stand. We will rehearse your performance focusing on eye contact, pausing to connect with your audience, and using facial expressions as commentary. We will see how satire effectively uses humour and irony to demonstrate your point. Plus, it’s more fun.
