재니스의 한국 이름은 이승혜 입니다. 재니스는 노래하고, 기타, 트럼펫, 장구를 연주합니다. 재니스는 자신의 목소리를 라이브로 녹음하여 특수 효과를 만듭니다. 캐나다 토론토에서 태어났습니다. 재니스의 아버지는 울릉도 출신이고, 어머니는 목포 출신이다. 재니스는 영어, 한국어, 프랑스어와 스페인어를 구사합니다. 밴드는 캐나다인의 다문화 그룹입니다.
카밀로는 멕시코와 카탈루냐 유산입니다. 카밀로 (Camilo)는 재니스의 주요 음악 파트너입니다. 카밀로는 노래하고 피아노를 연주합니다. 님(Nim) 의 가족은 스리랑카와 영국 출신입니다. 님은 베이스 기타를 연주합니다. 중국인인 바니아(Vania)가 드럼을 연주합니다.

펑키하고 톡톡 튀는 재즈 하모니 위에 더해지는 제니스의 자유롭고 예리한 스토리텔링이 재미를 더한다. 퀴어 정체성, 사회정의, 반인종주의, 우정, 공동체, 선조와 지구 등을 탐구하는 시적인 가사와 따뜻한 에너지가 관객과의 연대와 감동을 자아낸다.
제니스 조 리의 앨범 Ancestor Songs (선조의 노래)은 제니스의 개인적인 번아웃, 상처와 치유의 경험 등을 주제로 다양한 사회 이슈들을 다루는 “멜로디 여행”이다. 짝사랑에 관해 노래하기도 하고 디스토피아적으로 바뀌어가는 세계를 애도 하기도 하며 노동과 자연 등 다양한 이야기를 이어간다.
Janice Jo Lee & the QTS are a cute and radical folk-fusion band from Toronto, Canada. Janice Jo Lee has released three albums, two poetry chapbooks, written two musicals, and composed music for six plays. She has toured Canada with her music and poetry. Lee's last album Ancestor Song is a powerful melodic journey exploring themes of water, workers, burnout, healing, and her Korean heritage. The new songs are the Lullabyes for End Times: valedictions, love letters, and laments for our dystopian world. The music is dramatic and rootsy, combining folk storytelling traditions with blues and some elements of traditional Korean music.
Her show encourages audiences to never giving up in these hard times. With her guitar, looping pedal, trumpet, jokes and poetically-rich lyrics, Lee commands the stage. The show contains theatrical spoken word pieces, sweeping songs built on layers of cascading harmonies and audience-rousing sing-alongs. The band is rounded out by Camilo Consuelo Esperanza on voice and keyboard, Nim Agalawatte on bass, and Vania Lee on drums. There will be some dancing, some singing, maybe some crying if you're tender, and big harmonies.
Background: Janice was born in Toronto. Her father is from Ulleungdo, and her mother is from Mokpo. Janice speaks English and Korean, some French and some Spanish. This is the first time she is performing her music in the homeland.
