Poem: He greets her with two eyes

I haven’t written a new paper poem in a long time. Here’s one that came to me while sitting.

He greets her with two eyes
Janice Lee

He greets her with two eyes
With one eye
He says, “Hey, how have you been?”
They hug, and he
reaches
one hand across her shoulders
and places the other in the
small of her back
lightly pulls his fingers around
to her hips
lingering
for a moment
before they break the embrace
smile
and move on to greet
other friends

With the other eye
He holds her
close
Rests his chin
where her shoulder meets her neck
Comforted by her soft perfume
He exhales a sigh
of relief
Places a line of kisses
up her warm neck to her ear
and whispers,
“I missed you.”
